(LaPresse) – “We are convinced that the time has come to resolve the Middle East’s main problem: ensuring the sovereignty of the Palestinian people on the basis of numerous United Nations resolutions.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made this statement in his speech to the UN General Assembly. Lavrov cited both Gaza and the West Bank. He noted that the situation is also deteriorating in the West Bank, where Israel is expanding its settlement activity: “If this situation continues, the creation of a Palestinian state will be impossible. There simply won’t be any more space,” he said, adding that “then Israel’s security will be constantly threatened.”
