Milan, Sept. 27 (LaPresse) – Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urges Israel to “go to war” in the West Bank and “do there what we did in Gaza,” reiterating his call to dismantle the Palestinian Authority, which governs Palestinian population centers in the West Bank, and also calls on Israel to annex southern Lebanon and the territory controlled by the IDF in Gaza. The leader of the far-right Religious Zionism party said this in a podcast on the Ynet website, according to the Times of Israel. “I would very much like to annex at least up to the Yellow Line in Gaza and up to the [Litani] River in Lebanon,” he said. Smotrich added that he supports the annexation of those areas “not only because of the issue of settlements in the Land of Israel, but simply because, if a war ends at the borders from which it began, what will prevent the enemy from going to war again? They must pay a price.”
