Milan, Sept. 27 (LaPresse) – A 63-year-old man from Melito di Napoli, arrested by the local Carabinieri station, will face charges of attempted femicide. It all happened in the evening. Heartbreaking screams came from an apartment in the city center. A woman was crying out for help. The officers arrived within minutes. Knocking was useless: from inside, there were still screams and the unmistakable sound of blows. The door was broken down and the Carabinieri restrained the elderly man before yet another blow could kill his wife. The 63-year-old was arrested and taken to prison, where he is awaiting trial. The victim was transferred to the hospital in Giugliano, where she underwent emergency surgery. She remains in a guarded prognosis.
