Rome, 28 September (LaPresse) – “Since the start of 2026, Italian oil companies have made profits of over 3 billion euros, whilst rising fuel prices have hit households and businesses. Giorgia Meloni could have intervened by law to cap fuel prices, but she chose not to, leaving the door open to economic and financial speculation at the expense of Italians. Now the price cap imposed by the companies shows that capping prices was possible: the government should have intervened sooner, rather than allowing oil companies to make billions in profits and passing the price rises on to citizens and businesses.” So said Angelo Bonelli, an Avs MP and co-spokesperson for Europa Verde.
