Rome, 28 Sept. (LaPresse) – John McEnroe has stated that tennis players should boycott the Grand Slam tournaments to secure a larger share of the revenue. The former US star argued that players should be treated as partners in the sport’s four most important tournaments, claiming that their lack of control over both revenue and their own schedules has created tensions within the sport. “Players should be partners in the majors,” McEnroe told a group of journalists during the Laver Cup in London. “The fact that they aren’t creates friction: they receive too small a share of the revenue. The only way to achieve this, in my view, is to boycott one or two of these tournaments,” he added.
