I’m an athlete and I want to make a full recovery as soon as possible.” So said Italian long-jump athlete Matteo Furlani to Sky Sport. Having returned from an injury sustained last May in Xiamen, the Italian athlete suffered a relapse in his right leg at the moment of take-off during this summer’s European Championships in Birmingham, forcing him to withdraw after just one jump and leaving the runway in a wheelchair. The European Indoor Championships will take place at the Luis Puig Velodrome in Valencia, Spain, from 4 to 7 March.
