The United States is conducting “positive and constructive discussions through mediators”, the source said, adding, however, that no agreement will be reached unless the nuclear issues are addressed. On Saturday, the US president rejected Iran’s latest proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, calling it “unacceptable”, and on Sunday he told Axios that he expected further talks with Iran later in the week. Leading the negotiations on the US side, the CNN source said, are Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
