(LaPresse) – “It was meant to be our Saxony, but it turned out to be Vannacci’s.” So said Deputy Prime Minister and national secretary of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, in an interview with *La Stampa* on the Reggio Calabria by-elections. For the Forza Italia leader, the election of Fabio Roscioli has shown that “for Italians, the tactical vote is to defeat the centre-left; it is the vote for our coalition. The centre-right,” he added, “has shown it can win on its own, with a result exceeding all expectations. It was Vannacci who stood against us and tried to make us lose; there is not much else to add. The much-vaunted ‘strategic vote’ was the one for our coalition – useful for defeating the left. Futuro Nazionale sided against us, attacked and insulted us, claiming it would be our ‘Saxony’. In the end, it turned out to be theirs.”
