Rome, 29 Sept. (LaPresse) – The red alert has been reinstated regarding volcanic ash emissions from Mount Etna. As announced by the INGV’s Etna Observatory, the VONA (Volcano Observatory Notice for Aviation) code has returned to red. The ash cloud is rising to a height of approximately ‘3,300 metres’ above sea level. Due to volcanic activity on Mount Etna and weather conditions, “all flight operations have been suspended until 3.00 pm today, Tuesday 29 September”, Catania Airport has announced.
