Spain: Government halts evictions until 2030 and extends tenancy agreements until 2028

Milan, 29 Sept. (LaPresse) – The first of the decrees approved this morning by the Spanish coalition government includes protection against evictions extended until 2030, the regulation of seasonal lets and room rentals, a ban on purchases by speculative funds until 2028, and a two-year extension of existing tenancy agreements due to expire before 31 December 2028. The second decree introduces the automatic renewal of tenancy agreements. Given the importance of these measures, the Government has called for an extraordinary plenary session of Parliament this Friday, with a view to immediately ratifying both decrees to tackle the country’s housing crisis. This is according to reports in the Spanish media.
