Rome, 30 Sept. (LaPresse) – This morning, the State Police arrested nine people on charges of kidnapping for the purpose of extortion and illegal possession of weapons. The investigation began following the arrest in flagrante delicto of three Indian nationals who, on 9 January, had taken a fellow Indian national and his mother to a post office in Ghedi (BS), with the aim of forcing them to withdraw €6,000 deposited in a postal savings account, whilst threatening them with semi-automatic pistols. The victims managed to escape by alerting an off-duty police officer and the local police, who happened to be in the post office at the time, and told them they were being held hostage by the three men.
