Rome, Oct. 1 (LaPresse) – “Last weekend was probably the worst one for me, from my point of view, of the season. Anyway, I learned a lot from it, and it was also a very strange race for me in Baku because it was one of those races in which I consciously tried not to take any risks and to drive below the limit, which was very strange but positive.” Mercedes driver and championship leader Kimi Antonelli said this ahead of the Bahrain weekend, the 16th round of the F1 World Championship, exceptionally scheduled at the Sepang circuit. “That was what I needed on Sunday, a clean result after a very challenging weekend. After the race I wasn’t happy with the result and everything else, but I learned many things, and the most important is that I always have to be at 100%. I really have to do my best to achieve the best result because if I don’t do everything right, or if I don’t try to do everything in my power, then nothing will come of it,” he added. “The updates should provide more grip and more downforce. Hopefully we’ll have more grip; we’ll see how the balance of the car changes with the new components and what aspects we will need to work on: in general, there is a bit of everything to improve, to be honest,” Antonelli explained. “I think I can improve in many aspects of my driving; in particular, I think this track will be a great test for me, given that it features very long corners where it is essential not to slow the car down too much. It’s an aspect I probably need to work on quite a lot, but I’m looking forward to tackling it. I did a few laps in the simulator and the feeling was positive, but obviously we’ll have to see how it goes on track,” he concluded.
