Milan, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian pilot of the Flydubai flight who was attacked by his co-pilot on Wednesday whilst en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv, spoke via video call with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the hospital in Abu Dhabi where he is being treated, and recounted what had happened. “I was lying on the floor, injured, but I told myself to make one last effort to open the door from the inside,” he said. “Others then came in and helped to bring the situation under control. Obviously, I was fighting for my life, but at the same time I knew I wouldn’t let the others die,” Machchhar told Modi.
