Rome, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – The Spanish Congress of Deputies has voted against the conversion into law of the first decree issued by Pedro Sánchez’s government to tackle the housing crisis. The measure received 172 votes in favour and 178 against. The ‘no’ vote from the Catalan separatists of Junts, Carles Puigdemont’s party, proved decisive. A vote is now underway on the second decree containing housing measures. The rejection of both measures could lead Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to call a snap election in an attempt to capitalise on public discontent over high rents.
