Rome, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – Diana Bianchedi’s role as vice-president of CONI was compatible with her position at the FIGC as head of the Italian national football team’s delegation. This is the conclusion reached in the opinion issued by ANAC: “With reference to the correspondence already exchanged between ANAC, CONI and the other parties concerned regarding the appointment of Diana Bianchedi as Head of Delegation for the Italian national football teams at the FIGC,” reads the opinion of the Anti-Corruption Authority, “it is noted that during the meeting of 2 October 2026, the Council resolved as follows: As a preliminary point, it should be noted that the fact that the person concerned took up the post in question whilst the requested opinion was still pending meant, from ANAC’s internal technical and procedural perspective, a shift from an advisory role regarding a prior opinion to a supervisory role concerning the legitimacy of an appointment. Following the preliminary investigation carried out, it was found that, in the present case, the circumstances set out in Articles 4 (‘Prohibition on the appointment of individuals from private-law bodies that are regulated or funded to posts in state, regional and local administrations’) and 9 (‘Incompatibility between posts and positions in private-law bodies that are regulated or funded, as well as between such posts and professional activities’) of Legislative Decree No. 39 of 2013, which were theoretically conceivable”. “In any case,” concludes ANAC, “the resignation of the person concerned from her post as head of delegation at the FIGC leads to the case being closed.” Last Tuesday, following comments by the Minister for Sport, Andrea Abodi, regarding tensions within the CONI Executive Committee, Bianchedi resigned as head of delegation for the national team.
