Rome, 2 Oct. (LaPresse) – The former CEO of Alitalia, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, and thirteen other defendants have been fully acquitted by the Court of Civitavecchia in the trial for fraudulent bankruptcy and corporate offences. The panel ruled that “the case is without merit” regarding the charges relating to the management of the airline between 2014 and 2017, which was declared insolvent in 2017. “No criminal liability can be attributed to the senior management,” commented the defence lawyers, emphasising that “the truth has emerged clearly”. Alitalia Sai was also cleared of any wrongdoing whilst under special administration. Former CEOs Silvano Cassano and Marc Cramer Ball, former CFO Duncan Naysmith, James Hogan, Claudio Rosati and Roberto Colaninno were also acquitted.
