Rome, Oct. 3 (LaPresse) – Top advisers to US President Donald Trump met at Camp David on Friday for hours to discuss the next steps in the war against Iran and the conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis in Yemen, according to three US officials cited by news website Axios. The highly unusual meeting was not made public by the Trump administration. The last time a similar meeting was held was in June 2025, a few days before Israel went to war with Tehran. According to the officials, Vice President Vance chaired the meeting. Other participants included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine. “Decisions were made or, at the very least, they were discussed in depth,” one of the officials said, referring to the crisis in the Middle East. With negotiations at a standstill, President Trump is considering the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations in Iran.
