Rome, Oct. 3 (LaPresse) – “The forecasts confirm that the deficit-to-GDP ratio will return below the 3 percent threshold this year. Under the policy scenario, excluding the impact of the clause, the deficit-to-GDP ratio would remain on a declining path, staying consistently below 3 percent throughout the forecast horizon,” and, moreover, “the misalignment of the net expenditure growth rate with the recommended limit for 2027 would be fully absorbed by the activation of the clause, while the remaining deviation in the control account would be limited and below the cumulative threshold allowed under European rules”: “if these trends were also confirmed in the European Commission’s Spring 2027 Forecast, it is considered that the conditions could exist for the Council to decide to abrogate the Excessive Deficit Procedure against Italy on the basis of the final 2026 data.” This is stated in the text of the Dpfp approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers and sent to Parliament.
