Trento, 3 Oct. (LaPresse) – “I’m still undergoing physiotherapy; I had an operation about a month ago. For the time being, I’m doing rehabilitation. My aim is to feel well and make a full recovery. My motivation is simply to feel well. Being an athlete is something I love, and I feel very privileged. Over the last two years, I’ve truly reached the peak I’d dreamt of throughout my entire career. Unfortunately, I reached it and saw it vanish so quickly.” These were the words of Federica Brignone, gold medallist in the super-G and giant slalom at Milano Cortina 2026, speaking on the sidelines of the Trento Sports Festival, which runs until tomorrow. “It’s been a very difficult year, even after the Olympics. Of course I’m here, but I’m still undergoing physiotherapy. I’m still really quite surprised by those two medals. It’s hard enough when you’re fit and even if you’re number one in the world, let alone when you’re not at your best. But my aim was to be there and I was able to ski at a certain level. Believe me, I really struggled, but I didn’t want to give up. My demons were the warning signs my body was sending me.”
