Milan, 4 Oct. (LaPresse) – A bitter end for Italy at the European Road Cycling Championships in Slovenia. The Azzurri secured two podium places in the 196.3 km race from Ljubljana to Sencur, with Giulio Ciccone taking silver and Christian Scaroni bronze. The gold medal went to the Belgian star Remco Evenepoel, who, in a breathtaking sprint finish, came from behind to beat Ciccone by a photo finish. A real blow for the Italian, who in the final sprint seemed to have built an unassailable lead over the Belgian, who instead managed to make the winning move right on the finish line.
