Rome, 5 Oct. (LaPresse) – Daniil Medvedev has been disqualified and Novak Djokovic is through to the final of the ATP 500 in Beijing. This is the sensational conclusion to the match between the Serb and the Russian, the second semi-final of the tournament, which was halted with the score at 7-5, 5-3 in Djokovic’s favour. At 15-15 in the ninth game of the second set, in a fit of anger, Medvedev hurled a ball into the stands, inadvertently striking a spectator in the eye and forcing him to leave the stadium, accompanied by no fewer than three members of staff. The Russian was subsequently disqualified by the chair umpire and the tournament supervisor. Djokovic thus advances to the final, where he will face the Australian Alex De Minaur.
