Milan, 6 Oct. (LaPresse) – Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has stated that he has ordered the armed forces to “raise their state of alert and be ready to deal with any possible scenario in Gaza” ahead of the third anniversary of the Hamas attack on 7 October 2023, which falls tomorrow. This is reported by The Times of Israel. Katz cites “intelligence reports indicating that Hamas intends to attempt to launch assaults and attacks against our forces in Gaza on that date”. In his statement, the Defence Minister asserts that the IDF must prepare for the worst-case scenarios and that “in response to any intelligence or warning, decisive action must be taken to thwart any threat, in addition to the operations already underway”. Should Israeli forces suffer casualties, Katz states, “Hamas and the people of Gaza will pay a very heavy price, disproportionate to the circumstances”.
