Rome, 7 Oct. (LaPresse) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated in a press release that the organisation has asked Russia for “further information to clarify the cause of the severe pneumonia” that led to the death of the laboratory worker at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute, “the pathogen that necessitated public health measures, and the media reports concerning a second employee suffering from pneumonia of unknown origin”. Ghebreyesus also reiterated the importance of the timely and transparent sharing of information, as required by the International Health Regulations.
