Washington (USA), 7 Oct. (LaPresse) – Saudi Arabia and Syria are discussing the deployment of Syrian troops to Yemen to join the counter-offensive against the Houthi rebels. This is according to three US officials who spoke to Axios. According to these sources, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is seriously considering the possibility, but has not yet made a decision. The Trump administration, the US officials reported, has been consulted by both countries and does not object in principle to such a move, although the deployment of Syrian troops could introduce a religious dimension to the war in Yemen and exacerbate the conflict.
