Berlin (Germany), 8 Oct. (LaPresse) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has proposed hosting a ‘Coalition of the Willing’ summit in Berlin later this year in support of Ukraine. The meeting, which is expected to be attended by heads of state and government, could be held “probably in December”, government sources said at the end of talks between Merz and British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, the dpa reports. The Chancellor’s proposal would have received London’s support. The Coalition of the Willing, promoted in early 2025 by the United Kingdom and France to support Kiev in the war against Russia, brings together over 30 countries. The last summit took place in July in Paris, with the participation of some leaders via video link.
