Frankfurt (Germany), 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – Augusto Cury, who came third in the first round of the Brazilian presidential elections with 2.89 per cent of the vote, has announced his support for Flavio Bolsonaro (PL) ahead of the run-off against outgoing President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). Cury, the candidate for the Avante party, secured 3,448,569 votes and made it clear that his support is conditional upon the fulfilment of a series of political commitments and does not involve any negotiations regarding government posts, privileges or personal benefits. “I had a long conversation with Flavio, looking each other in the eye, without filters and without mincing words. I made it clear to him that I would not be part of his government and that my independence of thought would not be negotiable,” Cury stated in a press release issued by his press office. During a video call, the candidate who came third in the first round also asked the senator to publicly commit to supporting some of the proposals put forward during his election campaign.
