Frankfurt (Germany), 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – SpaceX has announced an agreement to acquire national licences for the use of radio frequencies in the United States, with the aim of transforming Starlink Mobile into a major mobile operator through a network that integrates satellite connections and terrestrial infrastructure. The deal, which is still subject to final approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), covers up to 14 megahertz of spectrum in the 800 MHz band. According to Elon Musk’s company, the new frequencies will improve signal reception even inside buildings, overcoming one of the main limitations of satellite communications. SpaceX has also announced that the FCC has authorised the launch of 15,000 next-generation Starlink Mobile satellites, capable of providing over 100 times the current transmission capacity and high-speed connections directly to smartphones, without the need for any modifications.
