Frankfurt (Germany), 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – Israel has strongly criticised the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the South African lawyer Navi Pillay, describing it as “a grotesque exploitation of an honour to legitimise hatred and prejudice against Israel”. This was stated by the Israeli Foreign Ministry in a statement reported by The Times of Israel. “If there were a prize for lies, hatred and defamatory accusations, Pillay would be among the leading candidates,” the ministry said. “Her role in the ongoing, politically motivated demonisation of Israel and in spreading the lie of genocide speaks volumes,” the statement read. Pillay chaired the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry, which in September 2025 concluded that Israel had committed genocide in the Gaza Strip. “Now that the Nobel Committee has rewarded the greatest lie of the 21st century, Joseph Goebbels is surely applauding from hell,” concluded the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
