Rome, 9 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Peace is never achieved through weakness. Giving Putin gifts will bring neither peace nor any benefit to the civilised world. Russia will ‘repay’ the diesel with further terror and treachery.” This is an excerpt from a lengthy post written on X by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky following the US announcement of the temporary lifting of sanctions on Russian diesel. “Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products means investing in a war that must end, not be prolonged. What is needed is genuine de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis,” adds the leader in Kyiv. “We are counting on America’s rightful support for our defence of life, for our defence of the Ukrainian people, and on the United States engaging in an equally strong dialogue with Russia. A strong dialogue, not a weak one,” he emphasises once again.
