Gulf Breeze (US), 10 Oct. (LaPresse) – Hurricane Isaias has made landfall along the US Gulf Coast, bringing with it the threat of dangerous storm surges and destructive winds. The National Hurricane Centre reported that the powerful storm made landfall on Friday near Destin, Florida, classified as a Category 2 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of around 170 km/h (105 mph). Isaias was expected to create potentially dangerous conditions for the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama. Heavy rain and the risk of flooding are possible throughout the weekend, extending inland as far as the Tennessee Valley. In anticipation of the storm’s arrival, the governors of Florida and Alabama have declared a state of emergency for numerous counties.
