Rome, 10 Oct. (LaPresse) – There will be 535 million and 500,000 tourist arrivals in 2025, amounting to total spending of 185 billion. These record figures were presented by the Minister for Tourism, Gianmarco Mazzi, at the Confesercenti Forum 2026, the event organised by Confesercenti in Piazza del Popolo, Rome. “And 2026 is set to consolidate this positive trend. Spending by foreign travellers in the first eight months rose to 16.2 billion euros, up 5 per cent on the same period in 2025. This growth rate is more than six times higher than that recorded a year ago. The role of local businesses and the retail sector is fundamental. Every business that brings a town square to life, every enterprise that invests in the local area, and every service offered to residents and visitors helps to make a destination more attractive and welcoming. Because there can be no quality tourism without vibrant, dynamic communities capable of forging relationships. “We are achieving Italy’s success thanks to our cities, our villages, our local produce, our artistic and cultural heritage, and our traditions – in other words, the country as a whole, which makes that extraordinary variety of tourist experiences possible,” said the Minister for Tourism.
