Rome, 10 Oct. (LaPresse) – The Portuguese Football Federation has suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and opened disciplinary proceedings against him. The 41-year-old star left Portugal’s training camp following a row with new manager Jorge Jesus, who had not selected him for the recent Nations League matches. The Portuguese national team have won every match without him, and his replacement, Milan’s Gonçalo Ramos, has made the most of the opportunity by scoring three goals. Ronaldo featured only in Portugal’s opening Nations League match, being substituted for Ramos in the 1-0 victory over Wales. He left the squad after watching the second match from the bench – a 2–1 win in Norway – and following his decision to leave the squad’s training camp, Portugal went on to beat Denmark and Norway themselves, securing their place in the quarter-finals. The Portuguese star then posted on Instagram, urging the manager to admit the mistake made in Oslo, where he had asked him to warm up on the touchline but then failed to bring him on.
