“The protection of health and safety in the workplace is rooted in the principles of the Constitution.” This was stated by President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella on the occasion of the 76th National Day for Victims of Workplace Accidents, in a message sent to Anmil President Amedeo Bozzer. “These principles give rise to a concrete duty: to address risks before they result in accidents, through effective prevention, adequate training and protective measures capable of making the most of technological and organizational changes in the workplace for this purpose,” he added. “The role of Anmil, an independent association committed to supporting, including through its representative activities, injured workers, survivors and their families, is invaluable. This commitment combines the protection of rights with practical support for individuals and assistance along the paths to social and professional inclusion and reintegration following an accident. In this sense, Anmil acts as a true champion of the Constitution.” “The choice of Longarone as the venue for the 76th National Day for Victims of Workplace Accidents recalls one of the most serious environmental disasters in our country and serves as a warning of how essential it is to place the life and dignity of every person at the center of every decision, starting with collective choices and those that shape production and working environments,” the head of state explained. “The victims of workplace accidents and their families have the heartfelt thoughts and commitment of the Republic. This day calls on institutions and social partners to shoulder an unavoidable responsibility: to make prevention a permanent undertaking, so that no job can endanger the life of those who perform it,” Mattarella concluded.
