Rome, 12 Oct. (LaPresse) – Russia wants lasting peace in Ukraine and is prepared to do whatever is necessary to achieve this, said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov during a briefing with journalists, according to TASS. “The Kremlin has repeatedly said: we do not want a truce, we want a lasting peace, and we are prepared to do everything possible to achieve this,” said Peskov, commenting on the statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said that elections in the country could be held if Moscow agreed to a 60-day truce. The Kremlin did not comment on the “energy truce” announced yesterday by US President Donald Trump, limiting itself to saying that discussions are ongoing. “Discussions are ongoing. As soon as we have something to say on this matter, we will certainly let you know,” Peskov said, according to TASS.
