Washington (US), 14 Oct. (LaPresse/AP) – A federal judge has extended the injunction preventing the Trump administration from barring journalists from three media organisations from the White House. Judge Timothy Kelly ruled that CNN, MSNBC and Politico have a good chance of winning their case, which is based on the constitutional guarantees of freedom of expression and due process. Previously, Kelly had ordered the White House to reinstate the journalists’ ‘permanent press passes’ whilst he assessed their claims. As that interim order was due to expire on Tuesday, the judge issued a preliminary injunction maintaining the status quo whilst the case remains pending. The Department of Justice, which is representing the administration in the proceedings, has not yet responded to a request for comment.
