Milan, 14 Oct. (LaPresse) – “Without going to Trump, there are European countries that are currently buying energy and gas from Russia. France, Spain and Belgium are currently buying energy from Putin. So, I think we have a duty, once the war is over, to go back to buying gas and oil wherever it costs less.” So said the League’s Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, speaking to reporters in Brussels ahead of the Patriots for Europe summit. Should Italy do the same? “I’m simply saying that there are European countries that are doing it and are profiting from it. So, before saying no, let’s take a look around,” he added. “This afternoon, Macron and Sánchez are buying from Russia. The champions of the pro-Ukraine camp are buying from Russia; they’re paying Putin. So, there are some who say one thing but do another,” Salvini emphasised.
