Rome, 15 Oct. (LaPresse) – Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten has urged all European Union government leaders to do more to support Ukraine. This support must include, amongst other things, financial and military aid. Many European countries are still lagging behind when it comes to providing aid to Kyiv, Jetten told the international press ahead of the start of the European summit in Brussels, according to reports in the Dutch media, including the news website Nieuws.nl. “We must therefore step up our efforts,” “we must ensure that the Ukrainians can win this senseless war,” Jetten said. The Prime Minister then criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin. “There is only one reason why this senseless war of aggression continues: because Putin wants it to,” he said, “he is the one who can bring this war to an end by initiating negotiations for a just and lasting peace. Until he does so, the Ukrainians will have to defend themselves and, in doing so, defend European values as well.” The Netherlands stands “side by side with the Ukrainians”, the Prime Minister concluded.
