Turin, 18 Oct. (LaPresse) – Milan beat Atalanta 3–2 at San Siro in their Serie A Matchday 7 fixture and continued their climb up the table, temporarily jumping to fourth place with 15 points. Atalanta, meanwhile, are in the midst of a deep crisis, having suffered their fourth defeat in their last five matches and remaining stuck on 9 points. Goncalo Ramos opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute following a handball by debutant Obric – who had come on for the injured Kolasinac – before Rabiot doubled the lead in the 42nd minute, scoring his third consecutive league goal from a pass by Moreira. Atalanta were lacklustre and posed a threat on only one occasion, with a shot from Krstovic hitting the side netting from a tight angle after he had rounded Maignan. In the second half, Carnesecchi saved a penalty in the 12th minute awarded for another handball, this time by Kristensen on Rabiot’s shot, but from the resulting corner, the Rossoneri made it three with Gila’s winning header from Rabiot’s lay-off. The match seemed over, but Milan became too complacent and Atalanta, revitalised by Sarri’s substitutions, capitalised. Krstovic hit the post with a shot from outside the box, but two minutes later the visitors pulled one back thanks to Gaetano’s decisive run. In the 36th minute, Krstovic found the net this time with a clinical finish from Bellanova’s low cross. Two minutes later, Zappacosta had a chance to make it 3–3, but Maignan was alert and saved his side, who, despite being under pressure, secured three vital points.
