Rome, 18 Oct. (LaPresse) – An extraordinary meeting of Forza Italia’s leadership was held this afternoon, chaired by National Secretary Antonio Tajani, in light of the exceptional incidents of violence in Milan and other cities, which our Under-Secretary of State for Defence, Matteo Perego, has been witnessing first-hand on the ground. In summary, Forza Italia “calls for the immediate deployment of additional units from the police and armed forces already tasked with maintaining security, in order to strengthen the ‘Strade Sicure’ (Safe Streets) operations and immediately establish full control over the territory to protect citizens and businesses”. “It is also necessary,” explains FI, “to plan for the recruitment of new security personnel and to tackle with the utmost firmness the issue of minors’ involvement in the unrest. In particular, the police must be provided with the regulatory and legislative tools to arrest minors, especially in cases of vandalism and looting, and the legislative process for laws making it easier to prosecute minors aged between 14 and 17 must be accelerated. Forza Italia also suggests convening the Council of Ministers in Milan, as a sign of the State’s presence and of its closeness and solidarity with the citizens of Milan and the business owners who have been unjustly harmed.”
