Rome, Oct. 19 (LaPresse) – Neva SGR, the venture capital company of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, wholly owned by Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, has invested through its Neva II Fund in Nouscom, a clinical-stage biotechnology company specialising in cancer interception, to develop next-generation immunotherapies. Headquartered in Switzerland, with research and manufacturing laboratories in Italy at the Castel Romano Technology Park, Nouscom has just completed a €120 million Series D funding round (an advanced stage of financing for mature companies), which was oversubscribed. Neva SGR participated in the round, co-investing alongside leading international funds, pharmaceutical company Angelini Industries (through Angelini Investments) and the European Investment Bank (through Aurea, its co-investment fund with Angelini Ventures). All of Nouscom’s existing international investors in the life sciences sector also took part in the round. Thanks to the funds raised, a statement said, Nouscom will continue developing NOUS-209, an experimental, off-the-shelf neoantigen-based cancer immunotherapy, through a single global clinical trial aimed at obtaining marketing authorisation for cancer interception in carriers of Lynch syndrome (LS), a hereditary condition. The US Food and Drug Administration has granted the treatment Fast Track designation.
