Rome, 19 October (LaPresse) – The Italian government has welcomed European Council President Antonio Costa’s proposal to hold the March 2027 European Council meeting in Rome, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome. The initiative would bring European leaders back together for a summit in the city where the founding treaties were signed 70 years ago. Sources within the Italian government reported the news, noting that this would be the first European Council meeting held outside its usual venue in Brussels since 2003, in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty of Nice. The decision is expected to be formally adopted in Brussels in the coming weeks.
