Rome, 22 Oct. (LaPresse) – Following the general assembly of workers held on 9 October and the subsequent meeting with the management of the Fondazione Teatro Fenice in Venice on 13 October, the trade unions have announced two days of strike action, in accordance with the mandate received from the assembly. “This industrial action is necessary in view of the continuing critical issues that have long remained unresolved, with particular reference to the quality of industrial relations and the organisation of work, the failure to address specific problems raised by staff, and the serious lack of recognition of the professional expertise present at the theatre. The management of the Shanghai tour is merely the latest example of this. Management has responded inadequately to the workers’ demands, despite the extraordinary contribution from the City Council. We have reiterated our criticism of the manner in which the financial proposal was evidently drawn up and of the refusal to explore alternative synergies and sponsorship opportunities to secure at least a decent travel allowance. For this reason, the General Assembly of the workers of the Fondazione Teatro La Fenice rejected the proposal, mandating the union secretariats to propose improvements using the tools at their disposal. ‘During the meeting on 13 October, the trade unions reiterated their willingness to identify a concrete path aimed at resolving the critical issues highlighted. However, they were forced to note, once again, a lack of attention on the part of the management in addressing issues that have been the subject of discussion for years now,’ the statement reads.
