Rome, Oct. 22 (LaPresse) – “Following the monitoring launched in recent days, the Strike Guarantee Commission acknowledges the sense of responsibility and cooperation shown by some road haulage associations, which have voluntarily chosen to call off their protest actions. However, widespread and persistent road blockades continue across the country, in clear violation of sector regulations and the self-regulatory code, prolonging a situation that has become unsustainable in the supply of essential goods. Having established that such conduct poses a serious and imminent threat to citizens’ constitutional rights — particularly the rights to health, safety and freedom of movement — the Commission has formally reported the situation to the competent authorities, pursuant to Article 13(1)(f) of Law No. 146 of 1990, so that they may adopt the measures and provisions necessary to ensure the immediate resumption of deliveries of essential goods and services vital to the country.” This is stated in a press release issued by the Strike Guarantee Commission.
