Milan, 23 Oct. (LaPresse) – “The designation of Monreale as the ‘Italian Capital of Books 2027’ is a source of great satisfaction and pride for the whole of Sicily. This prestigious accolade honours an extraordinary city, the guardian of a historical, artistic and cultural heritage of inestimable value, and highlights its ability to look to the future through culture.” This was stated by the Under-Secretary of State for Culture, Pietro Cannella, commenting on Monreale’s designation as the Italian Capital of Books 2027. “ ‘Monreale, with its millennia-old history and its extraordinary heritage recognised by UNESCO, is an ideal place in which to promote reading, knowledge and dialogue between generations and cultures,’ observed Cannella. ‘2027, the European Year of the Normans, will represent an extraordinary opportunity to engage young people in particular, strengthen the network of cultural institutions and make books a tool for growth, participation and regional development.’
