Rome, May 5 (LaPresse) – Ten years after the end of the commissioner management, the analysis on the implementation status of the "Prison Plan" highlights critical situations of overcrowding in prisons that – especially in Lombardy, Puglia, Campania, Lazio, Veneto, and Sicily – are approaching emergency levels, also in light of data from the Ministry of Justice. This is what the Court of Auditors emphasizes in the report "Infrastructure and Digitalization: Prison Plan," approved by the Central Section for the Control of State Administration Management with Resolution No. 42/2025/G. Alongside the need to create new detention spaces, the document points out the failure to carry out numerous interventions and the urgency to complete those for extraordinary maintenance that have already been started, to improve the environmental, hygienic, health, and treatment conditions inside the institutions.
