Rome, Oct. 29 (LaPresse) – “No effect” from the cut in “excise duties on diesel prices at the pump”. Codacons said this following data released today by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. “Despite the tax cut introduced by the government, with diesel excise duties reduced by a total of 4.88 euro cents per litre as of yesterday, October 28, prices at filling stations have remained virtually unchanged,” Codacons said. “The average price of diesel on the regular road network has fallen from 2.261 euros per litre yesterday to 2.256 euros today, a drop of just 0.5 euro cents. The situation is even worse on motorways, where diesel prices have fallen by only 0.1 euro cents, from 2.304 to 2.303 euros per litre.” “The small discount introduced by the government, if passed on to the final pump price,” Codacons concluded, “would have resulted in a modest saving of just 2.44 euros on a full tank of diesel, but so far it has brought no benefit to motorists.”
