Brussels, May 5 (LaPresse) – "The European Union is concerned about the expansion of operations in Gaza, which will lead to more casualties and further suffering for the Palestinian population. The EU urges Israel to reverse course and clearly states that negotiation is the only path forward to secure the return of hostages and an end to all hostilities," said Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for Foreign Affairs of the European Commission, during the daily press briefing in response to a question about Israel’s plan to escalate military operations in the Gaza Strip with new annexations.
"The EU calls for immediate access to and distribution of humanitarian aid, as well as the restoration of electricity and essential services in Gaza," he added. "The European Union also urges Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza so that humanitarian aid can be widely distributed. The Palestinian people have suffered enough over the past years, and it is time to end the violence and the suffering."
