Frankfurt (Germany), 31 Oct. (LaPresse) – Around 200,000 households in the Dnipropetrovsk region and over 80,000 in the Kyiv region are without electricity following Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a message posted on X, condemning a new series of raids on civilian facilities and infrastructure. “Last night, Russian ‘Shahed’ drones struck a combined heat and power plant in Kyiv. In the Dnipro region, four electrical substations were hit in the space of a single night. In the early hours of the morning, a Russian drone struck a combined heat and power plant in Shostka,” wrote Zelensky. “Railway infrastructure in Dnipro and Kharkiv was also hit. Russia also attacked a gas distribution plant in the Dnipro region.” “These Russian attacks have created a difficult situation for electricity supplies in our regions,” he added, noting that repair teams are working to restore the service. “The world can see that Russia is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure every day. And everyone who does not want this Russian escalation to spread further across Europe must help Ukraine,” said the president, calling for “strong measures that will truly lead to peace”, including “sanctions against the aggressor and new support packages for Ukraine”.
