(LaPresse) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, has ordered the armed forces’ top brass to ensure an “immediate and effective response with no geographical limits” to any potential enemy threat. This was reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA, which detailed the instructions issued by Khamenei during a meeting with military commanders. The Supreme Leader identified, among the requirements for “maximum deterrence”, the need to ensure “intelligent combat readiness for a powerful confrontation with the enemies”. “Should the enemies launch military or terrorist attacks again, it will be the armed forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation who will determine the timing and conditions of their demise,” Khamenei declared. The measures outlined also include updating the database of military targets, so as to bring “all types of tangible and intangible resources” belonging to the United States and Israel within the armed forces’ range of action. Khamenei also called for the strengthening of Iran’s military intelligence architecture and its defence and security capabilities through the use of new technologies, whilst also focusing on the development of autonomous defence doctrines and tactics.
