Rome, 31 Oct. (LaPresse) – Twelve people have been charged by the police in Turin following yesterday’s protests organised to mark the general strike called by grassroots trade unions. The charges, of various kinds, include failure to comply with official orders, misrepresentation, resisting arrest and causing injury to a public official. During the operations, 256 people were identified and 11 were taken to the police station. The figures were released by the police, who coordinated the operations with the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri. According to the police headquarters’ account, 30,000 people took part in the morning’s trade union demonstration. A student march set off from Palazzo Nuovo with around 4,000 participants, heading towards Piazza Palazzo di Città. The group continued towards the city centre, joining the section led by the social centre, which the police estimate had around 3,000 people.
